Obituary for Patricia Ann "Patsy" Oxley-Stone

Patricia Ann "Patsy" Oxley-Stone
Patricia Ann “Patsy” Oxley-Stone 84, of Budds Creek, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on March 15th, 2023. Patsy was born on November 22nd, 1938 to Thomas and Genevieve Stone at their home in Budds Creek, MD. She attended St. Mary’s Academy from 1st through 12th grade and graduated in 1956. For many years she worked in the hospitality industry before taking over the family business, “Stone’s Store” in Budds Creek, MD, where she made many friends young and old. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand and always welcome everyone with open arms. Patsy was an excellent cook, who provided family and friends with many delicious meals over the years. She had a profound love for gardening, which was showcased by her three “yard of the month” awards that were won for her meticulous and detailed arrangements of flowers.

On Friday nights you could count on finding Patsy at Potomac Speedway cheering on her grandson PJ and in her most recent years she spent her nights awaiting the return of the boys (PJ, Justin & Jayden) to find out their nightly racing results. After selling the family business in 2012, at which she retired, she spent her remaining years enjoying life in her new home with her grandson PJ, his wife Katherine, and great grandsons Justin and Jayden. She always looked forward to family gatherings with her children and other family members.

Patsy was predeceased by her son Michael “Mike” Hatcher, her parents Thomas and Genevieve Stone, her siblings Mary Lingeman and Robert “Bobby” Wise. She leaves behind to treasure her memory of three children Joe Hatcher (Roxanne), Patricia Hanson (Frankie), and Emily Wheatley. Patsy is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Kim (Jerry), PJ (Katherine), Matthew, Danielle, Dalton, Genevieve and Cheyenne. She also had nine great grandchildren, Justin, Josh, Justice, Jayden, Carys, Serenity, Mike, Autumn and Cole.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Church Chaptico, MD with Father Stephen Wyble officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholics Cemetery Bushwood, MD

Patsy was a devoted Catholic and in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Catholic Charities. Donations may also be made to Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
