William B. Cameron, “Billy”, 71, of Hollywood, MD, passed away unexpectedly on July 30, 2024 at his home. Born on August 13, 1952, he was the son of the late William B. Cameron, Sr. and the late Edna Evans Cameron. A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, MD, Billy grew up on a tobacco farm in Hollywood and was a graduate of Chopticon High School, class of 1972. In 1986 he married Donna Lee Miller at St. John’s Church, Hollywood, MD. They were married for 24 years until Donna’s passing in 2010. He was the faithful companion of Dorthy Miller of Loveville, MD for the last 10 years until her passing on July 13, 2024. Billy is survived by his children, Daniel and Joanna Cameron, both of Hollywood, MD; his brothers, Peter Cameron (Mary) of Chaptico, MD and Joseph Cameron of Leonardtown, MD, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Billy was a long-time classic car enthusiast and the proud owner of a 1965 Ford Falcon that could be seen at nearly every Southern Maryland-area car show. Each year he was instrumental in organizing the Knights of Columbus classic car show at St. John’s Church in Hollywood, MD. He was also a life-long member of the Knights. Billy enjoyed working the photo booth at Potomac Speedway for a number of years, selling the photos his wife, Donna, took as track photographer. He was employed at Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship in the Supply Department for 34 years, retiring in 2013. Billy was a gentle, caring man who spent his life thinking of others. He was always available to lend a helping hand and was a devoted father to his children. He will surely be missed by his friends and family. The family will receive friends for visitation on August 12, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD.
