Gail Frances Holden, of California, MD, passed away on Thursday May 30, 2025, in Callaway, MD. Born on June 1, 1936, in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Robert McIntyre and Anna McGeough McIntyre. Gail married the love of her life, Robert Holden, on November 10, 1956. Gail is survived by her beloved sisters, Roberta Harris and Judy Bandieri, her children, Robert Holden and wife Michelle, Ellen Mangiafico and husband Paul, Margaret Kelnberger and husband David, Daniel Holden and wife Donna, Joann Kohut, Janet Lynch and husband Conrad, and Evelyn Nastos and partner Terry. Gail is also survived by her grandchildren, Brett, Bonnie, Jeff, Julia, Paul, Christopher, Sarah, Sean, Michael, Jackson, Josh, Gina, and Adam, and her great grandchildren, Sophia, Logan, Isabella, Grace, Max, Grant, Orin, Holly, Henry, Nolan, Mateo, and Leo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her grandson, Holden, and her brothers, Robert, James, Joseph, and Paul. Gail graduated from East Senior High School in Pawtucket, RI in 1953. She earned her nursing degree in 1956 from Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing. After her marriage, Gail moved to Piney Point, MD and began her nursing career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown. She worked in the Emergency and General Surgery departments before obtaining her dream position in the Nursery. Gail loved knitting, crocheting, collecting photos of friends and family, and schooling her loved ones in cards. She was a genealogy expert and enjoyed tracing and sharing our family’s history. Gail was an active member of St. George’s Catholic Church. She, along with her dear friend, Patricia Bowes, participated in many church events, created meals for those in need, and volunteered to help with anything else that needed to be done. Gail loved her family very much and cherished her beloved children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was very engaged in the lives of her grandchildren, attending school activities, sporting events, art shows, band concerts, and pretty much any event that she could get to. She was delighted to be such a big part of their lives. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM, in St. George’s Catholic Church, Valley Lee, MD. Rev. Paul Nguyen officiated. Interment followed at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of St. Mary’s or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.   1. So sorry to hear about Gail. She was a terrific mother as I remember, having visited at her home to be with her daughter Janet
    several times! She was also a very dedicated and compassionate nurse at St Mary’s hospital as my brother recalls. Our deepest sympathy and love go out to all of Gail’s family. We lost our mom in late 2020. I know how much she is loved and will be missed!
