William Thomas McLaughin, Sr., “Billy” 71, of Avenue, MD, passed away on February 5, 2026, at his home. Born on November 2, 1954, in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late LaLa Blanche McLaughlin and the late William Jospeh McLaughlin. Billy was the loving husband of the late Eleanor “Faye” McLaughlin, whom he married on July 19, 1985. Billy is survived by his children, Douglas McLaughlin of Mechanicsville, MD, Linda Kolbe (John Kolbe) of Chaptico, MD, Crystal Downs (Jerry Downs, Jr.) of Avenue, MD, and WT McLaughlin (Jessica McLaughlin) of Avenue, MD, his siblings, Cora DiCamillo, Anna Wathen, Mary “Catherine”, and John McLaughlin, and his grandchildren, Jessie Kolbe, Hannah Kolbe, Bryce Downs, Tyler Downs, Allie McLaughlin, and Bella McLaughlin. Billy was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident and graduated from Chopticon High School in 1974. He was a truck driver for various companies throughout his career. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM with Father Chip Luckett officiating. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Davy Hill, Jessie Kolbe, Bryce Downs, Tyler Downs, Jerry Downs, and Jay Helwig.
