Alice L. Bowman-Veney, 90, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on November 26, 2019 at her home in Mechanicsville, MD. Born on September 18, 1929 in Chaptico, MD, she was the loving daughter of the late Mary Frances Bowman and Charles H. Bowman, Sr. Alice is survived by her children Thelma Johnson (Jackie) of Mechanicsville, MD, Karen Graves (Calvin) of Waldorf, MD, Samuel Veney (Karen) of Baltimore, MD, Jeryle Veney (Michelle) of Loveville, MD. Debbie Johnson (Mike) of Clinton, MD, James Mason (Linda) of Waldorf, MD, Jan Dickerson (Virgil) of Mechanicsville, MD, 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 23 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings Julia Conway, Annie Edelen, Mamie Baker, Charles H. Bowman, II, Walter Bowman, Carroll Bowman, James Bowman, Bertie Bowman, Madeline Reed, Marie Bowman and Mary Jane Whalen. She was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident. Alice graduated from Banneker High School in 1947. She was a School Bus Driver for St. Mary’s County Public Schools for 35 years, retiring in 2001. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michal Sajnog officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Bowman, Carl Bowman, Sr, Jonathan Veney, Virgil Dickerson, Jr, Christopher Mason and Alvin Whalen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Damien Thomas, Juwan Johnson, Royal Reed, Gregory Dunn, Jr, Wayne Mills, and Carlos Lewis.
