Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. John Barry officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. Andrew Jackson "Jack" Gibson, Sr., 85, of Avenue, died June 23, 2006 in Washington Hospital Center. Born September 8, 1921 in River Springs, MD he was the son of the late William "Buddy" and Catherine Morgan Gibson. He was the beloved husband of Mildred Downs Gibson whom he married on June 26, 1944 in Holy Angels Church in Avenue, MD. He is survived by his children: Sherry Brown, Mildred Sue Farrell, and Ritchie Gibson all of Avenue, MD, Bonnie Mattingly of Abell, MD and Buddy Gibson of Clements, MD; siblings: Theresa Bailey of Leonardtown, MD, Catherine Tippett of Colton's Point, MD, Rita Schuhart of Clinton, MD and Clare Gibb of Annapolis, MD; and thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son: Jackie Gibson and siblings: Louise Bruce and George Bernard Gibson. Mr. Gibson was a life long St. Mary's County resident worked as a home builder for Gibson Ridge Homes and was a waterman until his retirement on September of 1985. Through the years he enjoyed boating, shooting pool, playing cards and getting his weekly lottery tickets. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, with Prayers being said at 7:00 PM. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Bernie Tippett, Georgie Gibson, Lenny Hubbell, Richard Tippett, Robert Daily and Frank Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the 7th District Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 7, Avenue, Maryland 20609.
