Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 5:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. with prayers recited at 7:00P.M. in theMattingley-Gardiner funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. Annie Elizabeth Abell McCully,94 of Leonardtown, MD died August 8, 2014 at St. Mary’s Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD. Born on October 7, 1919 in Leonardtown, MD she was the daughter of the late Violet Ching Abell Bussler and Thomas Hogan Abell. Annie was the loving wife of the late Hugh C. McCully, Jr., whom she married on April 11, 1946. She is survived by her sisters Mary Lorena Tennyson, Katie Dolores Bussler Kozak, Claudia Lee Bussler Mattingly and brother Carroll Roger Bussler. Annie is also survived by her two godchildren: Marlene Kozak Young and George Robert Bussler. In addition to her parents and husband, Annie was preceded in death by her brothers Frank Thomas Abell, John T. Abell (World War II M.I. A.), Francis Arlee Abell and George Hoover Bussler. Annie was born raised and educated in St. Mary’s County. After graduating from Margaret Brent High School she went to work at Cedar Point Navy Base. When she married she moved to Hyattsville, MD, and went to work in the business office of the Hecht Co. in Washington, DC. Later she moved to Camp Springs, MD. After retiring Annie and her husband moved back to St. Mary’s County. Annie was an outgoing and friendly person who never met a stranger. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, getting her hair styled, eating out, window shopping, bingo and spending lot of time with her sister, Mary. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church Leonardtown, MD with Father David Beaubien officiating.
