Services: The family will receive Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM with Deacon Bill Nickerson officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, MD. Arthur Art “Sonny” Alfred Thomasset, Jr., 76, of Callaway, MD formerly from Calvert County, MD passed away on December 13, 2014 in Callaway, MD. Born on November 20, 1938 in Prince Frederick, MD he was the son of the late Eva Yates Thomasset, and Arthur Alfred Thomasset, Sr. Art is survived by his lifelong companion Donna Thomasset, children; John Thomasset (Theresa) of North Beach, MD, Debbie Mundie (Nathan) of Valley Lee, MD, 3 grandchildren; Brittney Thomasset, Erica Mundie and Ciaran Thomasset, and sister Marilyn Crider of Chesapeake Beach, MD. He was preceded in death by his siblings Edith Grenier, Carol Buffington, Bill Enos, and Joseph Enos. Art enlisted in the United States Navy in May of 1957 and was stationed at U.S. Navy Submarine Base New London Connecticut, and earned the Good Conduct Medal while serving until May, 1963. Art was an Electrician with Local Union 26, and he enjoyed working at Lowes in California, MD in the electrical department. He was a member of the Mechanicsville Optimist Club, and enjoyed Christmas time with his family, spending time with his grandchildren, and attending the Lynard Skynard concert with his son and son-in law. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 5:00PM – 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM with Deacon Bill officiating in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. Interment will be held at a later date in Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, MD.
