Barbara Jane Czosek

Barbara Jane Czosek, age 75 of Mechanicsville, MD, born July 6^th, 1951, passed on July 22, 2026, from complications due to ALS at Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonardtown, MD.

Barbara was born, lived and was raised in the suburbs of Buffalo, NY, attending and graduating high school from Villa Maria Academy, Buffalo, NY in 1969.  Barbara moved with her husband in 1978 to Lanham, MD and again in 1980 to Southern, MD.  Barbara was a para-educator in the special education department of Benjamin Banneker Elementary School in Loveville, MD, retiring in 2008 after 28 years of service.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Sophie Kaniecki, her father John Kaniecki and her elder sister, Marcia Maryniewski.  She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Eugene R Czosek Sr., marrying on September 2^nd, 1972, at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Sloan, NY, her sister Joan Karas and her brother John Kaniecki.  Barbara and Eugene had 3 boys, Eugene R Czosek Jr, Andrew J Czosek and Charles J Czosek whom gave them 6 grandchildren, Shondiin Czosek, Drew Czosek, Carson Czosek, Sophia Czosek, Addison Czosek and Mason Czosek with her 7^th grandchild, Charles Czosek, due at the end of July.

In life, Barbara poured her heart and soul into her family, ensuring each special occasion, whether a holiday, birthday or life event was celebrated, she reveled in sending birthday cards to every family member and friend, every year, and cherished sending the children $2 dollar bills with their cards.  In retirement Barbara enjoyed crafts and other hobbies, but most of all watching classic films with her husband as well as their daily breakfast and lunch dates.  Barbara was a lifetime Roman Catholic and along with her husband were 30-year members of St. Johns Francis Regis Church in Hollywood, MD where they attended 7 am mass and taught religious education for many years at the 2^nd and 7^th grade level ushering so many young children through the sacrament of baptism.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM in St. John’s Francis Regis Church in Hollywood, MD, with Rev. Ray Schmidt. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
