Barbara Kittelberger Stromick, age 85, passed away on April 11 at Solomons Nursing Center and Rehab in Solomons, MD. Born on October 16, 1938, in Clearfield, PA, she was the daughter of Frank Jr. and Margaret (Ranish) Kittelberger. Barbara attended St. Cecelia's School in Washington, DC. She was a bookkeeper for many years for House of Wines in Washington, DC. She also enjoyed working as a pari mutuel teller at Laurel Racetrack. Barbara was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved meeting new people and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play. She was the ultimate foodie and truly enjoyed sharing that passion with her daughter and grandchildren. Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Gale Corley; grandchildren, Shannon Whitney and Michael Corley; great-grandchildren, Timothy Corley, Ava Whitney, Olivia Whitney, Sutter Corley, Morgan Corley; siblings, John Kittelberger and Brenda Smith; and numerous other family members and friends. Barbara was predeceased by her late husband, Charles Stromick; her parents, and her grandson, Kevin Corley. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Barbara's life on Monday, April 22 at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, 41590 Fenwick St, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Visitation will be at 10:00am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00am. Interment will immediately follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Mechanicsville, MD. Donations and memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association (action.lung.org).

  1. Barbara was my favorite resident at the nursing home and I miss her dearly. I miss all of our conversations about any and everything daily. I do have comfort in my heart knowing that she will no longer suffer. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I’m so glad I was able to meet Barbara and become her friend.
