Bethel Jane Armsworthy, “Beth” 96, formerly from Hollywood, MD, passed away on February 9, 2020 at Solomons Nursing Center. She was born January 18, 1924 in Andover, NY and was the daughter of the late Helen Baldwin Eldridge and Claude Earl Eldridge. Beth was the loving wife of the late James Horace Armsworthy who proceeded her in death on September 20, 1982. Beth is survived by her children Ronald David Armsworthy (Susan Carol Jarboe) of Hollywood, MD, Philip Stephen Armsworthy (BettyLynn Sterling) of Leonardtown, MD, Elizabeth Jane Previti (Michael Louis Previti) of California, Md; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings Maxine E. Steenwerth of Va Beach, Va, Martha E. McCombs of Va Beach, Va and her son James Michael Armsworthy of New York. Beth spent her formative years with her family in upstate NY. They struggled through the depression era with her Dad taking on jobs as a door to door salesman, a photographer, and even a glazier. Beth loved her older sisters, Mickey and Martha dearly and they guided her as she grew. She graduated from The Elmira Free Acadamy High School in Elmira, NY in 1941. As the 2nd World War ensued Beth found employment on the night shift in a machine shop helping to make bombs as a “Rosie the Riveter”. After the war ended in 1945 Beth met and married James “Jim” Armsworthy on March, 17th in Romulus NY. They honeymooned at Niagara Falls, NY. As time went on they were blessed with four children, Michael, Ronnie, Philip and Janie. The family lived for a period of time in Va Beach and then eventually settled in their life long home in Hollywood, MD. Jim and Beth started A&M Glass Company in 1969. Sadly, Jim struggled with health issues and died prematurely at age 59. Beth was the President of A&M Glass Company for 35 years, retiring in 2004. Beth was a member of Hollywood United Methodist Church for 57 years. She was a member of The Women’s Society for Christian Service and at times the church choir. Beth had a strong faith in the Lord and that was what brought her through her difficulties She lost her beloved son, Michael, prematurely at age 46. For all that she endured Beth had a zeal for life and was able to find joy anew. She instilled love in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was affectionately called “MeMe”. The last years of her life were fraught with dementia but the love of her family was reflected back to her with tender care. A service of Christian love took place February 13, 2020 at 10:00 at Hollywood United Methodist Church with interment at St Johns Cemetery, Hollywood, MD

I will cherish all the memories I shared with her. She was such a sweet lady. I will definitely miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
