Brent Matthew Robrecht

Brent Matthew Robrecht, 93, of St. George Island, MD died on April 12 at home with his wife of 66 years, Margaret Simpson Robrecht. Born January 10, 1928 in Leonardtown, MD he was the youngest son of the late Harry and Lelia Robrecht. He married Margaret on January 8, 1955 in her hometown of Lebanon, PA. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his six children: Mike and Tammy Robrecht of Livingston, TX, Andrea and Robert Greer of Denton, MD, Bruce and June Robrecht of Great Mills, MD, Keith Robrecht of Mechanicsville, MD, Mary and Bruce Robertson of Germantown, MD, and Theresa and Tony Laurel of Callaway, MD. His grandchildren are Heather Schrader, Dallas Bonner, Mason Robrecht, and Matthew Robertson and great grandchildren Brianna, Cameron and Ryleigh Schrader. Brent was preceded in death by his brothers Earl, Neal, Leon and Philip and his sister Josephine. Brent attended Little Flower School and graduated from St. Michael’s High School in Ridge, MD in 1945. In 1948 he joined the United States Air Force. His tours of duty included Korea, Newfoundland, Greece and Vietnam. He also spent time at Patrick AFB in FL, Travis AFB in CA and McGuire AFB in NJ. He served 21 years and retired in 1969 as Chief Master Sergeant. Brent was an active member of the Air Force Sergeant’s Association. After his Air Force retirement, Brent worked as Supply Superintendent at the Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship in Piney Point, MD for 20 years. He retired a second time in 1990. Brent was also a member of St. George Catholic Church in Valley Lee, MD. Brent, fondly known by locals as Matthew, was an honest hardworking man who dearly loved St. George Island. He enjoyed time on the water and seafood, gardening, and caring for his property, walks with his dog and drives in the country. He was generally quiet and reserved but he loved to hear and tell a good story and had a great grin and wonderful smile. Matthew was always there to help and said he never met anyone he could not get along with. He was a man of faith who loved his country and his family. He appreciated the little things in life and had a life well lived. All Funeral Services will be private. Pallbearers are Keith Robrecht, Mason Robrecht, Dallas Bonner, Tony Laurel, Billy Schrader and Sean Moore. A Military Service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery St. George, MD.
