Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Mechanicsville, MD with Father Michael Tietjen officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery Helen, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. Calvert Benedict “Dickie” Norris,76, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on September 9, 2014 in Washington, DC. Born on October 21, 1937 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late Mary Elizabeth Gatton Norris and Calvert Ignatius Norris. Dickie was the devoted husband of Emily Wood Norris for 55 years, whom he married on October 10, 1959 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Mechanicsville, MD. Dickie is survived by his children; Donna Yvonne Norris, James Benedict Norris (Christine), David Wood Norris (Dawn), Dennis Wood Norris (Karyn) all of Mechanicsville, MD., 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Siblings; Mary Lou Mattei and John Edward Norris both of Leonardtown, MD., and Joan Payne of Mechanicsville, MD. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Elizabeth Ann Beavan, Robert Ignatius Norris, and William Andrew Norris. Dickie attended St. Mary’s Academy and was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, MD. He served in the National Guard in Leonardtown, MD, and worked as a Route Salesman for Wonder Bread for 38 years. Dickie was the founder of Cut Loose Outfitters of Mechanicsville, MD; and a member of the Continental Bakery Local 33. He was an altar server for Our Lady’s Catholic Church Medley’s Neck, MD for many years, he enjoyed crabbing, fishing, hunting, and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD.
