Carl Francis Abell, Jr., 59, of Avenue, MD passed peacefully at his residence on January 2, 2022. Born June 7, 1962, he was the son of the late Carl F. Abell, Sr. and Barbara Anne Russell Abell. He is survived by his siblings John “Buck” Abell (Patti) of Chaptico, MD, Katherine Triplett (Ron) of Solomons, MD, Alison Beavan of Chaptico, MD and Theresa Baird Johnson (Brad) of Bushwood, MD, as well as thirteen nieces and nephews. A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, Carl Francis graduated from Chopticon High School, class of 1980. He was a tradesman in carpentry, masonry and home construction. He enjoyed helping his family build homes, additions, garages, decks and many other home renovations. Carl Francis loved being surrounded by his family and friends. Before the passing of his parents, he loved helping them with their catering business and carrying on the family traditions and family recipes. He was a great story teller and told the best jokes, always keeping those around him laughing. Carl Francis also enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, hunting, boating, and fishing. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00PM in Sacred Heart Church, Bushwood, MD where a Memorial Mas will be celebrated at 12:00PM with Father Stephen Wyble officiating. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD with Fr. Francis Early officiating. Interment will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Leonardtown, MD. Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 3:00 PM. Carl Francis Abell, Sr., 70, of Avenue, MD died August 7, 2008 at his residence. Born September 8, 1937 in Leonardtown, MD he was the son of the late John F. Abell and Dorothy V. Kucher Jr. He was the loving husband of Barbara Anne Abell whom he married on June 14, 1958 in Holy Angels Church. He is also survived by his children; John F. Abell and his wife Patty of Chaptico, MD, Katherine M. and her husband Ron Triplett of Solomons, MD, Carl F. Abell, Jr. of Avenue, MD, Alison A. and her husband George Beavan of Chaptico, MD and Theresa L. Abell of Bushwood, MD and his sister Dorothy Victoria and her husband James S. Hayden of Bushwood, MD as well as nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, Carl graduated from St. Mary’s Academy “Class of 1956”. He was an electronics technician for the Naval Air Station at Patuxent River, retiring in April of 1988. He was an artist, sign painter, chef, restaurant owner, caterer and he made rosaries. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said at 3:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD with Fr. Francis Early officiating. Interment will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be Ricky Blair, Jamie Hayden, John F. Abell IV, Tony Bailey, Colby Beavan and Justin Beavan.
