Carmel Anne Wood

Carmel Anne Wood, beloved mother and devoted wife, passed away suddenly on June 3, 2025 at Georgetown Medstar Hospital. She was born on August 14, 1959 to Charles and Helene Armstrong and was the second of three children. Carmel was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother Helene and her loving children: Brittany Wood of Mechanicsville, Maryland; Kayla Wood of Mechanicsville and her husband of 46 years William S. Wood Jr also of Mechanicsville. Her grandaughter Mallory Pyles and her sister T.C. O'Brien (Steve) and brother Charles Armstrong. Carmel had a heart of gold, always putting the needs of others above her own. She was particularly fond of animals and would nurture homeless strays back to health. She was the centerpiece of the family and her presence was an inspiration to all that knew her. She enjoyed various music styles and was known for her beautiful voice and was a talented vocalist. She will be remembered for her resilience and the strength she showed when her health began to fail. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, she will not be forgotten. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. Where a Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Ammon Ripple officating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery Helen, MD.
