Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11:00AM in Trinity Episcopal Church, St. Mary's City, MD with Father John Ball officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 9:30AM to 11:00AM in Trinity Episcopal Church. Caroline Briscoe Milburn Stokes, 90, of Leonardtown, MD passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 19, 2014 in Leonardtown, MD. Born on January 22, 1924 in St. Mary’s City, MD, she was the daughter of the late Anne Elizabeth Adams Milburn, and Mark Milburn. Caroline was the loving wife of the late James Marzell Stokes whom she married on November 21, 1941 they were married for 46 years, and whom preceded her in death on September 5, 1988. Caroline is survived by her children; Constance Stearns of Mansfield, MA, Marie Rakowski of Monnet, MO, Frances Ludlum of Staunton, VA, James Stokes of Park Hall, MD, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Dorothy M. Abell, Everett H. Milburn, Mark Milburn, Jr., and Mildred Milburn Fletcher. Caroline graduated from Great Mills High School in 1940; she was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, MD. She was a homemaker for many years, later worked at Great Mils High School in the Guidance Counselor Department, and later worked at the Maryland National Bank. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM in Trinity Episcopal Church St. Mary’s City, MD, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM with Father John Ball officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
