Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Lexington Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Visitation: Tuesday, March 29, 2005, 5-8 PM in the Funeral Home with prayers being said at 7:00 PM Carolyn Sue Jacobs, 55, of Loveville, MD died March 26, 2005 in St. Mary's Nursing Center. Born May 20, 1949 in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of Freeda Oneda Alderman Gragan of Loveville, MD and the late James Elwood Gragan. She is survived by her daughter, Samantha Nicole Jacobs of Loveville, MD; brother: Steven E. Gragan and his wife Debra Jean of Leonardtown, MD; niece: Tammy Lynn Sellers and her husband Tracy F. and their children Kolby James Sellers, Tyler James Sellers and Kara Anette Sellers. Ms. Jacobs graduated from Chopticon High School Class of 1967 where she was a cheerleader. She was a life long St. Mary's County resident where she worked as an Administrative Assistant to the President at First National Bank of St. Mary's for 14 years. She enjoyed going to dances at Pennies in her younger days and taught disco in the late 70's. Carolyn battled cancer for 11 years yet she never complained about being sick and never said "Why Me?" She was always willing to try any treatment that would give her more time with her daughter, Samantha. She helped many people who were battling cancer and felt it was her duty to get them through their trying times. Her love of life, the lord and most of all Samantha kept her pushing for "just one more miracle". She also loved to collect angels, she had quite a collection many were gifts from family and friends. The family received friends on March 29, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 in the Lexington Park United Methodist Church with Reverend Walker officiating. Interment followed in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Tracy Sellers, Billy Alderman, Wade Johnson, Jerry Norris, Tom Perrotta and David Sweeney. Honorary Pallbearers were Bobby Huntington and Tommy Alvey. Contributions may be made to Samantha Jacobs Memorial Fund, c/o First National Bank of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 655, Leonardtown, MD 20650 and/or Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O.
