Catherine Aurelia Fowler

Catherine Aurelia Fowler, “Cathy”, 87, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away on April 17, 2024, in Prince Frederick, MD. Born on December 13,1936 in Washington, D.C, she was the daughter of the late Mary Delia Davis and the late Philip Henry Davis. Cathy was the loving wife of the late Thomas Franklin “Tucker” Fowler, Sr., whom she married in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD on November 21, 1959. She is survived by her children, Thomas Franklin “Tommy” Fowler, Jr. (Gail) of Mechanicsville, MD, David Holmes Fowler (Stephanie) of Mechanicsville, MD, Nannette Marie “Nancy” Fowler of Boynton, FL, and Wanda Buckler (Mark), who was loved and adored like her own daughter, her grandchildren, Erin Sieber, Christy Hardy, Taylor, Seth, Blake, Kennedy, Blair, and Trey Fowler, and Lucas and Celine Ponzoa, as well as her great grandchildren, Hannah, Bryce, and Lincoln Hardy, Waylon Fowler, and Flynn Sieber. In addition to her parents and husband, Cathy was preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel Stultz and Judy Vallandingham. Cathy was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident, and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1954. She then attended Catholic University and was a clerk for the United States Postal Service for 36 and a half years, retiring in 2005. Cathy enjoyed playing softball, travelling, fishing, crabbing water skiing, and outings with friends. More than anything, she treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. Cathy especially loved her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to her very dedicated caregivers, Linda Copsey, Ashley Buckler, Kelly Buckler, Christina O’Neil, Jennifer Calo, and Cheryl Begg. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with prayers recited by Deacon Bill Kyte at 4:30 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. ALL SUNDAY VISITORS TO THE FUNERAL HOME WILL BE REQUIRED TO USE LAWRENCE AVENUE BECAUSE OF ROAD CLOSURES. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD, with Fr. Michael Tietjen officiating. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Helen, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Seth Fowler, Blake Fowler, Trey Fowler, Shaun Handy, Jake Senatore, and Mark Buckler. Honorary pallbearers will be Christy Hardy, Taylor Fowler, Kennedy Fowler, and Blair Fowler. Contributions may be made to the Mechanicsville Vol. Rescue Squad, P.O.
