Born in: Hollywood, Maryland
Resided in: California, Maryland

Catherine Jeanette Abell Cameron, affectionately known as Jeanette, age 86, of California, MD, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving children.

Jeanette was born on September 13, 1939, in Hollywood, MD, to the late Claude Leo Abell and Catherine Marie Greenwell Abell, where she grew up along with her five siblings. Jeanette was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy class of 1957. On June 6, 1959, she married her beloved husband, Frank, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Together, they shared 66 years of marriage and built a life centered around their family.

Jeanette was the heart of her family. She raised her four children in a home filled with love. A hard worker but never one to complain, she poured her heart and soul into her family and was always generous to a fault. She went on to play a big role in raising her grandchildren, truly becoming a perfect grandmother. When she was later blessed with great-grandchildren, she was absolutely thrilled; they affectionately called her “Gigi” and completely adored her. Her life was defined by a boundless, multi-generational love and an unwavering devotion to her family.

Well-known for her incredibly delicious crabcakes, Jeanette had a knack for making every family gathering the absolute best that it could be. Her warmth, wisdom, and the laughter she shared will be profoundly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard Franklin “Frank” Cameron, Sr.; her dear son, Tim Cameron; grandson, Bryce Darling; her brother, Buck Abell and her sister, Barbara-Ann Abell. She is survived by her children: Frank Cameron (Sue), Julie Burgan (Jim), and Maria Gassie (Ed). She is also survived by her siblings: Eileen Tippett (Wilbur), Mary Brugman (the late Dennis Brugman), and Kenny Abell (Ann).

Jeanette’s devotion to family shone brightly through her grandchildren: Nick Cameron (Sheila), Kirk Cameron, Zack Cameron, Dani Walker (Roger), Austin Darling, Jake Darling, and Bryan Darling. She was also a proud Gigi to Maxwell, Jameson, and Camden Walker.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hollywood, MD, with a funeral mass at 11:00 AM, and interment immediately following at St. Mary’s Queen of Peace Cemetery in Helen, MD.
