A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 16 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Church, Chaptico, MD with Father John P. Stack officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.
Visitation:
Public Viewing will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, February 15 from 4 - 8 PM with prayers being said at 6 PM.
Charles Anthony "Tony" Hill, Sr., 66, of Chaptico, MD died February 11, 2005 in Washington Hospital Center. Born April 21, 1938 in Chaptico, MD, he was the son of the late Flora Elizabeth and Nicholas Hill. He is survived by his wife Catherine Cecelia Hill whom he married on October 31, 1959 in Our Lady of the Wayside, Chaptico, MD. He is also survived by his sons: Charles Anthony Hill, Jr. of Accokeek, MD, Alfred Bradley Hill, Randall Andrew Hill and Gary Glenn Hill, Sr. all of Chaptico, MD; brothers and sisters: Maryann Johnson of Hollywood, MD, Regina Sydnor of Chaptico, MD, James Matthew Hill and Lawrence Augustine Hill both of Lexington Park, MD, William Roderick Hill of Partlow, VA, Kenneth Michael Hill of Mechanicsville, MD and John Patrick Hill; grandchildren: Adam Blake Hill, Alan Brent Hill, Crystal Darlene Hill, Gary Glenn Hill, Jr. and Shannon Nicole Hill and great-granddaughter Alyssa Rene Hill. He was preceded in death by his brother: Nicholas Allen Hill and sister: Agnes Veronica Dunlap. Mr. Hill was a life long St. Mary's County resident where he attended Margaret Brent High School. He worked for 26 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the St. Mary's County Public Works Dept. until his retirement in 1994. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and farming. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 15 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home from 4 â?? 8 PM with prayers being said at 6 PM. Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond Woodburn, Tom Hodges, Phillip Trossbach, Jimmy Herbert, Kenny Hill and Mike Evans. Contributions may be made to Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
