Craig Forrest Adkins
July 25, 1962 ~ December 12, 2017
Craig “Killer” Adkins excelled at everything in life, especially LIFE! At a very young age, he was diagnosed with internal organ complications, these issues only mounted as he grew older. Nothing ever stood in his way, medical treatments, assessments of how long he would live, bigger kids, or bigger jobs.
He was talented and dominant at anything with a ball, bat, or glove. Won many trophies for his vehicles, tournaments and prizes for Pool, Shuffle bowl and Corn Hole. No one could out fish, outcast or out catch him. He was always first for, biggest and most fish caught. Sometimes (not many) he LET someone else win. His love for his Harley was incredible to watch, this was his solace. His strive for perfection made him the most recommended Construction Contractor in Southern St. Mary’s County. He was always fair and would back up his work for life.
Most of all, Craig was the best person you could meet, honest, helping, funny, caring and man of his word. He has touched many, and all are lucky to have had the opportunity to make his acquaintance, and call him friend.
We, the family, have been the most blessed of all. Craig has always been our Angel on earth, now he watches us from heaven. We all have holes in our hearts that we hope heal with time, but we all know that there will never be anyone that will fill his shoes.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD, where a Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dan Moore officiating. Interment will be private.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary’s P.O. Box 625 Leonardtown, MD 20650.

I saw the most beautiful sunrise this morning. The brilliance of the sun just above the horizon, pink/purple sky as it’s backdrop. The beams shooting into the sky from it. I knew that was a sign that Craig had entered heaven’s gates. Go rest high on that mountain my friend.
My sincere condolences to all of Craig’s family and friends. Such a wonderful, kind, special man. Left us way to early. Rest in the arms of angels my friend.

My heart and thoughts go out to Uncle Craig’s family and friends. Uncle Craig is one of the strongest people I’ve ever known. He has touched my life greatly in the short time I’ve known him. His love for automobiles and motorcycles was very apparent to everyone he knew. I’ll always remember how my truck and motorcycle was the cleanest they’ve been since they were bought after he got his hands on them. I cherish all the moments I had with Uncle Craig and he will always been on my mind and in my heart.
Craig was a great contractor who became a great friend. Through he and his brother Kevin I got to know many of the Adkins family, they are good people who have had a rough year. I wish I had known Craig longer. He had a tough life, fought medical problems from childhood. The way he lived his life is an inspiration for me, and I’m sure for all who knew him. He never let his problems set him back, emotionally. If he wasn’t bedridden, he was working. He fought this cancer through sheer force of will, I was very surprised to learn he had passed last week. Rest in peace, my friend.
My deepest sympathies to the family. It’s evident that Mr. Craig was a strong resilient person and he will be greatly missed. Please take comfort in knowing that our Heavenly Father is aware of your pain and offers his comfort because he cares for you (Psalm 34:18; 1 Peter 5:7). He can strengthen you and provide the comfort you need at this time.
