Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM in Holy Face Catholic Church Great Mills, MD with Father Joseph Calis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. Daniel “Dan” Allen Fitzpatrick,77, of California, MD, formerly from Washington, DC. Passed away at his home on January 12, 2014. Born on February 1, 1936 in Fredericksburg, VA, he was the loving son of the late Edward Joseph and Bernice Heflin Fitzpatrick. Daniel is survived by his loving wife Nina Marie Fitzpatrick whom he married on March 7, 1953 in Washington, DC. Daniel is survived by his children; Marykatherine Gonzalez (Victor) of Hughesville, MD, Daniel Allen Fitzpatrick, II of Annapolis, MD, Deborah Grill (Gary) of Charlotte Hall, MD, Susan Markovich of St. Petersburg, FL, Kathleen Chiaruttini (Thomas) of Hancock, MD. 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister Lena Gayle McClendon of Marietta, GA. He was preceded in death by his brother Larry Fitzpatrick. “Dan” graduated from Eastern High School and graduated from University of Maryland with a degree in Law Enforcement. “Dan” joined the United States Air Force for 10 years, from 1952- 1962. He worked as a detective in the Homicide Division for the Metropolitan Police Department , retiring in 1971. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 Pm in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM in Holy Face Catholic Church Great Mills, MD with Father Joseph Calis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers; Christopher Price, Jordan Gonzalez, Brian Grill, Michael Fitzpatrick, Nina Chiaruttini and David Williams. Arrangements provided by the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD.
