A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father John Barry officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetary.
Visitation:
Public Viewing and Visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2005, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, with Prayers being said at 7:00 PM.
Deacon William "Bill" Leslie Kemp, 74, of Avenue, MD formerly of Prince George's County, MD died December 9, 2005 in Avenue, MD. Born December 19, 1930 in Daisy, MD he was the son of the late George William and Leon Adelaide Fawcett Kemp. Bill converted to Catholicism and was received in the church 1953. He was the loving husband of Mary Josaphine Carroll Kemp whom he married on April 24, 1954 in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Washington, DC. He is survived by his children: Theresa Marie Wheeler and her husband Frank of Clements, MD, Charles Thomas Kemp and his wife Mary and Mary Lovenia Friess and her husband Brad all of Loveville, MD, Elizabeth Ann Yates and her husband Joey of Leonardtown, MD and William Joseph Kemp of Avenue, MD; Brothers and Sisters: Barbara Emily Turner of Springville, Indiana, John Francis Kemp of Ashton, MD and Gary Lee Kemp of Harpers Ferry, WV; 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister: Lois Virginia DeCheubel. Mr. Kemp graduated from Ellicott City High School in 1948. Bill moved to Avenue, MD in 1963 and registered as a parishioner of Holy Angel's Church. He was elected and served 4 years as President of Holy Angels-Sacred Heart Home and School Association. He has served the Parish as choir member, lector, Extra-ordinary Minister of the Eucharist, C.C.D. teacher and member of the school board. Mr. Kemp joined and served the local volunteer rescue squad for 20 years as an Emergency Medical Technician. Bill retired from construction work and devoted his spare time to the Church. In his last 2 years of the diaconate formation program, Bill has been instructing second grade students in the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. He has also been taking the Eucharist to the home bound, hospital and the nursing home. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 12, 2005 from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM in Holy Angel's Catholic Church with Prayers being said at 7:00 PM.
