Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 2 in Our Lady's Catholic Church in Medley's Neck at 10:00 AM with father John Barry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: Public Viewing will be held in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 1 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. Dorothy Johnston "Dot" Gogan, 62, of Johnson City, TN, died February 24, 2005 in Johnson City Medical Center. She suffered from small cell lung cancer. Dorothy was born October 11, 1942 in Washington, D.C. the daughter of Ed and Lucy Johnston. She was raised in St. Mary's County, MD and graduated from Little Flower and St. Michael's Catholic schools. She worked for thirty years at ETSU-Quillen College of Medicine in the Accounting and Finance Department. She was scheduled to retire in April 2005. Dorothy enjoyed photography and bird watching. Mrs. Gogan is survived by her husband, Norman Gogan of Johnson City, whom she married on October 24, 1992. She is also survived by her son, Jason Gogan and his wife, Becky of Jonesborough; her sisters, Margaret Abraham and her husband, Richard and Virginia Tippett of Maryland; her brothers, Eddie Johnston and his wife, Carolyn of Maryland, and George Johnston and his wife, Dolly of Georgia. She was a beloved aunt to Michael, Richy, and Joe Abraham; Sandy, Tommy, Lory and Georgie Johnston; and April Tippett. She is also survived by her husband's large Gogan family; her former husband, Larry Oliver and his family from Elizabethton, and her co-workers and friends at ETSU. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved dogs, Andy and Cocoa. Dorothy was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church yet had a deep respect for other religions. She loved her co-workers and the medical students at ETSU. She loved everyone's children and always sent birthday and anniversary cards. She will be remembered for her unfailing love and dedication to her husband, Norman. The family received friends and a funeral service was conducted on February 26th in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, with Father Dennis Kress officiating. Prayers were said on March 1st in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home where the family received friends. Dickey and Gary B. Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sandra Boothe, John F. Williams, Ronald P. Williams, Michael A. Abraham and John F. Williams.
