The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 27, 2006, for a casual celebration of his life at the family home, 24664 Half Pone Point Road, Hollywood, MD, beginning at 11:00 AM.
Edward Aloysius Lynch, 78, of Half Pone Point, Hollywood, MD passed away peacefully on May 23, 2006, at Georgetown University Hospital. Born October 11, 1927, in Kearny, NJ, he was the son of the late Aloysius C. Lynch and the late Sarah Marie Ryan Lynch. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bettina D. Zachares Lynch of Hollywood; a brother, Donald Lynch of Alexandria, VA; a sister Marjorie Quigley of Pompton Plains, NJ; his six children: Tim Lynch of Richland, WA, Jody Gilstrap of Hollywood, Nancy Lynch of Nanjemoy, Michael Lynch of Upper Black Eddy, PA, Ellen Palmer of Port Tobacco and Joanne Lynch of Louisville, KY; ten grandchildren, Barbara Goodson, Christopher and Joshua Lynch, Sarah and Zack Gilstrap, Aaron, Ryan and Maria Palmer and Selah and Marta Lynch. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps for one tour, He attended Nutley High School, Samson College, Teterboro School of Aeronautics and Drakes Business College after which he worked he worked in the private aeronautical industry for 16 years. In 1961, he moved his family to St. Mary's County and in 1968 accepted a position with the Naval Engineering Service Unit. He concluded 28 years of dedicated federal service as Head of the Propulsion Support Equipment Section of the Ground Support Equipment Evaluation Branch, Service Test Division, Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River, MD. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and spending time on the water as well as in his vegetable garden. His greatest joy though was time spent with his grandchildren, attending their baseball, football and soccer games, piano and dance recitals, horse shows, school plays and whatever other activities they participated in. He took great pride in their accomplishments. He was always there to cheer them on and lend words of praise and encouragement.
