Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 3 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD with Father Peter Alliata officiating. Interment will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation: Public Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 2 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the funeral home with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. Eleanor Elizabeth Bowles, 78, of Mechanicsville, MD died January 31, 2005 in St. Mary's Nursing Center. Born October 3, 1926 in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Martha Lucretia Graves and Henry Arthur Wood. She was preceded in death by her husband James Elmer Bowles. She is survived by her children: Margaret Ann Buckler of Mechanicsville, MD, Nora Quesenberry of Huntingtown, MD, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Tabler of Garner, NC, Virginia Mae "Tina" Williams of California, MD, Charles Stephen Bowles, Sr. and Patricia Lee "Patsy" Wathen both of Leonardtown, MD; Sister Mary Agnes Buckler of Leonardtown, MD; 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and her loving dog George. Mrs. Bowles was also preceded in death by her son Joseph Aloysius Bowles; brothers and sisters Lynch Wood, Joseph S. Wood, Johnson Wood, Charles Wood, James Wood, Martha Bailey, Estelle Fitchett and Lucy Mattingly. She was a life long St. Mary's County resident. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 2 from 5 â?? 8 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home with prayers being said at 7 PM.
