A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD with Fr. Timothy Baer officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bushwood, MD.
Visitation:
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2006 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where Prayers will be said at 3:00 PM.
Elizabeth Ann Fowler, 92, of Chaptico, MD died October 19, 2006 in St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. Born July 15, 1914 on Locust Plain Farm, Chaptico, MD she was the daughter of the late William and Nellie Long Schuhart. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Alfred Fowler whom she married in May 1935 in Ellicott City, MD. She is survived by her siblings: John Oscar Schuhart and his wife Margaret and James Henry Schuhart and his wife Joan all of Chaptico, MD, George Hamilton of Bel Alton, MD and Daniel Webster of Clinton; 2 aunts: Josephine Clay of Hyattsville, MD and Mary Helen Saunders of Leonardtown, MD. She is also preceded in death by her siblings: Mary Margaret Bosma, Elsie Mabel Trapp, Virginia Mary Groff, Annie Mae Wallace and William Edward Schuhart. Mrs. Fowler was a life long St. Mary's County resident and worked at the St. Mary's County Court House for over 40 years. She started on September 15, 1948 as a clerk in the Circuit Court and transferred to the Assessment Office in 1954, where she remained until she retired at the age of 74. Elizabeth Ann was a member of the Catholic Daughters and had been an active member of Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church. For many years, she actively supported and assisted with coordinating the church festivals and bake sales, also she served on the church's alter, flowers and cleaning committees. She loved having friends and family by for holiday gatherings, a small lunch or dinner or just visit. She was well known as being a great cook and won the 1959 Pillsbury Bake-off Contest in Beverly Hills, CA for her â??Little Gems' rum ball recipe. Elizabeth Ann was an avid gardener and enjoyed working with her many beautiful flowerbeds and flowerboxes. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 22, 2006 from 2:00 â?? 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where Prayers will be said at 3:00 PM.
