Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Lexington Park, MD with Father Marco Schad officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Lexington Park, MD. Elizabeth Louise “BettyLou” Heard Bozes, 78, of Great Mills, MD died peacefully January 11, 2014 at Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief stay. Born September 18, 1935 in St. Mary’s County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Matthew Heard and Agnes Pearl Norris Heard. She attended St. Mary’s Academy in Leonardtown, and St. Mary’s Seminary Junior College (now St. Mary’s College of Maryland) in St. Mary’s City. She is survived by many cousins, god children, and dear friends, who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, William J. “Bill” Bozes, in 1999 and her special friend William “Billy” Simpson in 2012. Betty Lou had a long career with C & P Telephone Co. , while also helping urn several restaurants and bars with her husband, Bill. She was a member of the C & P Pioneers Club and a parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and visiting and could be found in her garden in both good weather and bad. Betty Lou was a good wife, daughter, cousin, friend, and neighbor. She will be greatly missed. Friends and family will gather to remember Betty Lou on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Lexington Park, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Lexington Park, MD with Father Marco Schad officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall immediately after graveside services. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 1041 North Building A. Gambrills, MD 21054, and/or Hospice of St. Mary’s P.O. Box 625 Leonardtown, MD 20650.     “I was stunned to receive the news of Betty’s passing. I had arranged to visit with her this week. Betty and I had so many plans to share family photos, go to lunch, and visit cousins. She was a beautiful, intelligent, sweet and thoughtful person. She was quite independent and often reminded me of our Aunt Victoria (Norris). She never wanted to bother anyone and would rarely ask for assistance. She faced her illness bravely and never complained. I have lost a very dear cousin and friend. My daughter, Vickie, adored her. She will be deeply missed.”
