Services:
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 10:00 AM in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Laurel Grove, MD with Rev. Ann Strickler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation:
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said by Deacon Joe Lloyd at 3:00 PM.
Ella Rosalie “Rae” Caywood Lee, 73 of Mechanicsville, MD died October 13, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD. Born January 20, 1936 in Clements, MD, she was the daughter of the late Grace Raley Caywood and Alexander Caywood. She is survived by her husband Edward Newton “Ike” Lee, Jr., whom she married on July 7, 1956 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Laurel Grove, MD. She is also survived by her daughters Lyndall Faye Lee and Marjorie “Gail” Spalding; her granddaughter, Tara Brooke and her husband Timothy Wayne Glass, her grandson, Matthew Gorden Spalding as well as her sisters; Mary Caywood “Peggy” Lee, Katherine Caywood and her husband George L. Bean. Mrs. Lee was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County and graduated from Margaret Brent High School in 1954. She enjoyed art, genealogy, cooking and sewing and was a bookkeeper for Lee Brother’s Sawmill and Logging Operation for over 35 years. Throughout her life she also worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, Reeves Insurance Agency and H & R Block. She was also a former member of the Mechanicsville Ladies Auxiliary and was a Girl Scout Troop #611 leader for several years. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said at 3:00 PM.
