A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 9:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD with Deacon Bill Nickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
Visitation:
The family will recieve friends on Sunday, May 17, 2009 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel, where prayers will be said at 3:00 PM.

“I have the honor of being a daughter-in-law to Erwin for 30 years. I am married to his oldest son. I called him “Daddy,” he always seemed to enjoy that. He was a very patient, loving and forgiving Father. His crystal blue eyes would flash if he disagreed with you, though he wouldn’t say much. His eyes would twinkle and sparkle when he was delighted by you. Dennis and I, were with him in his last week and held him in his last breath. Today, we hold him in our hearts and are truly honored to be his “Kids” We will always love you, Daddy. …Irene and Dennis Howard”
