Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bill Nickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery Bushwood, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home , Leonardtown, MD with prayers recited at 7:00PM. Evelyn May Owens, 94 of Leonardtown, MD passed away on January 12, 2013 in Leonardtown, MD. Born September 27, 1918 in Washington, DC. She was the daughter of the late George H. and Lottie May Adams Welty. Mrs. Owens married James “Jim” I. Owens on November 28, 1943 in Washington, DC he preceded her in death in October 2006. Evelyn is survived by her son James M. “Mike” Owens (companion Sue Spencer) of Maddox, MD, siblings; Helen Oliver, Lorraine Lacey, and Joan (Tucker) Lacey all of Bushwood, MD, Evelyn is also survived by a granddaughter, Michelle M. Owens of Leonardtown, MD, 2 great-grandchildren, Kayla M. Pitts of Killean, TX, and Eddie Nelson of Leonardtown, MD and 1 great-great-granddaughter due February 12, 2013. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Mattingly. Evelyn moved to St. Mary’s County in 1952 from Washington, DC, she was a homemaker. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM with prayers recited at 7:00PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:00AM in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Deacon Bill Nickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery, Bushwood, MD. Pallbearers will be: David Fisher, Thomas Fisher, Andrew Fisher, Adam Scherer, Jimmy Oliver, and Matt Oliver. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leonardtown Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 299, Leonardtown, MD 20650 Arrangements provided by the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, MD
