A Funeral Service will be said Friday, June 9, 2006 at 7 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held on Monday, June 12, 2006 at 10:00 AM in the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland
Visitation:
Viewing and Visitation will be held Friday, June 9, 2006 from 5 PM till 8 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel.
Fred William "Ted" Lewis, Sr., 73 of Mechanicsville, MD formerly of Cookeville, TN died June 6, 2006 in Mechanicsville, MD. Born December 11, 1932 in Baxter, TN he was the son of the late Phylander and Mary Adeline Rodgers Lewis. He was the husband of Eloise Barnes Lewis whom he married in Patuxent Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD. He is survived by his children: Fred Lewis, Jr. of Waldorf, MD and Sherry Lewis Fowler of Charlotte, NC; sister: Bonnie Clark of Cookeville, TN and 7 grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sisters: Joseph Lewis, Daisy Lewis, Lawrence Lewis, Dero Lewis and Dewey Lewis. Mr. Lewis worked as an engineer for SMECO for 40 years until his retirement in 1997. He also served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years during the Korean War. He was a member of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad and he served as Chief of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 9, 2006 from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where a Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM with Rev. Joseph Dobson officiating. Graveside Service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2006 at 10:00 AM in the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD with Rev. Susan Hazen officiating. Pallbearers will be: Andrew K. Fowler, Michael K. Lewis, John P. Lewis, Larry Barnes, George Barnes and Michael Barnes. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Mark G. Fowler, James Barnes, James D. Blackwell, Jr., Lionel Blackwell, Megan C. Lewis-Taylor, Victoria L. Fowler and Elizabeth F. Gardner. Contributions may be made to the National Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
