Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 7 at 11:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, Mechanicsville, MD with Father Peter Alliata officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Visitation: Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 7 from 9:30 - 11:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, Mechanicsville, MD Frederick Douglas Parker, Sr., was born in Oakley, Maryland, on August 13, 1928, to the late Mary E. Shelton â?? Parker and John J. Parker. He entered into eternal rest and peace on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He fought his Kidney Disease with Dialysis Treatment, three days a week for 15 years. On August 10, 1957, Douglas was united in Holy Matrimony with Mary E. Farmer. To this union of 47 years, six children were born, Patricia A. Butler, Linda L. Parker-Thornton, Frederick D. Jr., William B. Sr., Samuel L. and Bruce E. Parker. Douglas was an extraordinary husband, father and grandfather who dearly loved his family. Douglas attended Milestown Elementary School in Oakley, Maryland and Banneker High School in Loveville, Maryland. He served in the Army from 1949-1952; and he fought in the Korean War. Douglas had a great career as a Truck Driver for 38 years; he loved being on the road. Douglas made HISTORY- he drove the truck that pulled the FIRST nuclear reactor off the Barge at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant. Douglas also farmed tobacco for 20 years and drove the school bus. When he retired, he worked part-time at D.J. â??s One Stop Shop; where he loved to socialize and tell old stories. Douglas was an avid fisherman who enjoyed going on chartered fishing trips and he also loved playing cards. He enjoyed the outdoors and never missed an evening sitting on the deck at home; relishing the scenery and watching the grandchildren play in the yard. He dearly enjoyed the company of his grandchildren who were the love of his live. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John Parker; sisters Nancy Scriber, Louise and Adele Parker; brothers Frank, Henry, James, Samuel, Spencer and Thomas Parker. Douglas leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Mary E. Parker; his sons, Frederick Jr., Bernard Sr., Samuel and Bruce Parker; daughters Patricia Butler, and Linda Parker-Thornton; fourteen grandchildren, Yvette Yorkshire, Joseph, Jonathan and Jordan Butler, Bernard Jr., Solita, Blake, Trinity, Maiya, Breana, Amber, Desirea, Joshua and Tenia Parker, Tifanee Thornton; two great-grandchildren, Anisha Yorkshire and D'Jeanae Parker; three daughters-in-law, Yvette Parker, Terry Parker, and Cathy Young; two sons-in-law, Joseph C. Butler Sr. and Mark Thornton; two brothers, Levi Parker and Peter Short; two sisters, Elsie Marshall, and Hazel Boston; five brothers-in-law, Glenwood Clarke, Joseph Farmer, Sylvester, James, and John Wills; nine sisters-in-law, Helen Chase, Dorothy Clarke, Lucille Dorsey, Ruby Edelen, Rose Thompson, Sarah Wills, Elizabeth, Lois, and Shirley Parker; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 from 9:30 AM â?? 11:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD, where A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with Father Peter Alliata officiating.
