George "Dinky" Bernard Quade Jr.

George “Dinky” Bernard Quade, Jr., passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on March 4, 1939, in Tall Timbers, Maryland, George lived a life rich with love, laughter, and cherished moments with family and friends.

A proud and skilled member of the Union Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 132, George dedicated 24 years to the craft he loved. Retiring in 1995, he transitioned from the busy job site to the joys of home, where he found solace in gardening. With a green thumb that was the envy of many, he could grow almost anything, though he would wistfully admit that turnips evaded him. His garden was not just a source of joy for him but a place where neighbors and friends would often stop by, enchanted by the beauty and life he nurtured.

George had a particular fondness for crabs and fish, relishing the weekends spent with family and friends, sharing laughter over card games, and finding joy in simple pleasures especially Sunday dinners. Among his many talents, he delighted in creating whirley jigs and generously gifting them to loved ones and friends, often insisting they not return them when they broke. After fixing them, he happily flew them again in his cherished garden.

He is survived by his devoted spouse, Pauline E. Quade, and four loving daughters: Karen Lee (John) of Lexington Park, MD, Pamela Evans (David) of Leonardtown, MD, Susan Stewart (Phil) of Corpus Christie, TX, and Christina Quade (Steve) of Valley Lee, MD, grandbabies Kassie Davidson, Hayley Stewart, Allision Benitez, Jake Evans, Joey Bracken, Great-grandbabies Logan Benitez, Lucas Benitez, Declan Davidson, and Piper Davidson, siblings James Knott of Leonardtown, MD, John Quade of TX, Helen Havercomp of Great Mills, MD., Rosalie Roderick of TX, Shirley Stone of Lexington Park, MD., Gene Quade of Valley Lee, MD., and Molly Wimberly of St. Inigoes, MD. Together, they carry the memories of a man who exemplified love, hard work, and generosity.

As we remember George, let us celebrate his life, the joy he brought into our lives, and the countless memories he leaves behind. He will remain forever in our hearts.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George Quade, Sr., Helen Louise Knott Quade, siblings Leonard Quade, Carroll Quade, Ernie Quade and Barbara Sparks.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. with a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD with Rev. David Beaubien officiating. Interment to follow in Charles Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Leonardtown, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Rodger Nestgard, Jimmy Knott, Georgie Quade, Jake Evans, David Cross, and Steve LoBianco. Honorary pallbearers, James Knott, Gene Quade, Joey Bracken, Phil Stewart and Tyler Bowles.
