Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 12:00 PM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD with Fr. William Gurnee officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 from 10:30 - 11:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. George Frederick Wilson, 78, of Avenue, MD died September 14, 2008 at his residence. Born October 24, 1929 in Oakley, MD he was the son of the late James A. and Nellie A. Wilson. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia Herbert and brothers James A. Wilson and Joseph E. Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a lifelong St. Mary’s County resident where he graduated from Banneker High School. He was a carpenter for St. Mary’s County Public Schools for 23 years. He also served in the U.S. Army for 4 years. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2008 from 10:30 – 11:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 PM in Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. William Gurnee officiating. Interment will take place in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Kelvin Armstrong, Kevin Jameson, Leon Herbert, Clyde Farrell, Douglas Frederick and Ronnie Herbert. Contributions may be made to the 7th District Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
