Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD with Fr. John Dakes officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 6:30 PM. Glenn Edward Lawrence, 49, of Chaptico, MD died January 14, 2009 in Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC. Born July 30, 1959 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of Edward Clyde and Barbara Cecil Lawrence. He is survived by his daughter Samantha Lawrence of California, MD and his sisters Susan Keen and her husband Joe Dyer of Edgewater, MD Sharon Cox and her husband Lloyd of Leonardtown, MD Nancy Smith and her husband Leon of Spotsylvania, VA, and his brothers Gregory Lawrence and his wife Theresa of Annapolis, MD and John Lawrence and his wife Erin of Owings, MD. A lifetime resident of St. Mary’s County, he graduated from Ryken High School, Class of 1977. For most of his adult life, he worked for construction companies as an on-site superintendent. The family will receive at the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 from 5 – 8 PM with prayers being said at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Fr. John Dakes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gregory Lawrence, John Lawrence, Leon Smith, Jed Leatherman, King Norris and Jimmy Dillow. Memorial Contributions may be made to Georgetown University Hospital, ATTN: Mary Herold, MICU, 3800 Reservoir Road, Washington, DC 20007.

I finally took the step of looking online to see if something had happened. I had been scared of looking his name up because of what I did find today. Since the day we met, we had never gone more than a couple of days without talking. He became a very good friend and someone I could always count on him to be there for me. I have missed him these last months and will always think of him as a close friend.”
