Hayden Nicholas Wynkoop of Montross, VA (formally of Clements, MD) passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2026.  Hayden was the son of Julie Wood Wynkoop and Ben Wynkoop.  In addition to his parents, Hayden is survived by his sisters McKenzie Stone (Hunter) of Bushwood, MD and Carly Wynkoop (Jarrett) of Hollywood, MD, one niece, Brynleigh Stone and four nephews, Brantley Stone, Baylor Stone, Jace Russell and Boone Stone.  Grandparents Barbara Wood, Joyce Bennett and Bill Wynkoop, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  Hayden is preceded in death by his grandfather John Wood, Jr.

  9. Ben, Julie, and Family,

I cannot begin to understand the shock and pain your family is enduring following the loss of Hayden. I do not know if there is meaning or reason in his departure, but I will always cherish my fond memories of him growing up.

I remember Hayden coming to our house to play with Emily and the many hours Carly, Hayden, and Emily spent together. I remember the games they made up and all the fun they had growing up next door to one another. I still smile when I picture Hayden running around the yard, trying to keep his pants up because he had tied a rope around them, yet they kept falling down. 🙂

I have countless pictures from every season of the children playing together. This is how I choose to remember Hayden—smiling and laughing, with those beautiful blue eyes sparkling forever.

Sending love and hugs to your entire family.

    Mike, Iola, and Emily

    “The Broken Chain”
    by Ron Tranmer
We little knew the day that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you
    But you didn’t go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
    You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you
You are always at our side.
