Services: A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 10, 2004 in the Hollywood United Methodist Church in Hollywood, MD with Rev. Sheldon Reese officiating. Interment will follow in Joy Chapel Cemetery. Visitation: Public Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 from 5 - 8 PM with prayers being held at 7:00 PM. Helen Blanch Joy, 89, of Hollywood, MD died June 7, 2004 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD. Born December 31, 1914 at home in Hollywood, MD, she was the daughter of the late William Guinn Joy and Mary Blanch Heard Joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Sinclair Joy, whom she married on December 28,1935 at the Hollywood Methodist Church in Hollywood, MD. She was the sister of Bernice J. Dean of Hollywood, MD and the late Ann Joy and Estelle Denoon. Mrs. Joy graduated from Great Mills High School and was employed as a Nurse in the late Dr. William Patrick's office for 10 years. The family received friends on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 10, 2004 at the Hollywood Methodist Church with Reverend Sheldon Reese officiating and interment followed at Joy Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Joy were Dale Lee Dean, Jr., Chris M. Dean, Bill Davis, Leon Anderson, Frank Tippett, and Dale Bower. Contributions may be made to the Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. 79, Hollywood, MD 20636.
