James “Craig” Anderson, 49, of Clements, MD passed away peacefully at 9:07 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at his home in Clements, MD surrounded by his loving family. Craig was born on November 18, 1969 in Washington, DC. He was a life-long resident of Clements, MD and known throughout the community for his love of all sports. He participated in and cheered on the local sports community. He was a dedicated fan of the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals. Those who knew Craig well, knew of his love for heavy metal music. He was a 1987 graduate of Chopticon High School. He worked as an Engineer Tech for BAE Systems which allowed him to travel the world. Despite his medical challenges, Craig bravely battled until the very end. He is survived by his parents, Robert “Bobby” and Dianne Anderson; significant other, Tara Carr; daughter, Emma Anderson; step-daughter, Olivia Carr; faithful companion, Ozzy; siblings, Pam Clarke (JD), Tina Hurst (Jim) and Blair Anderson (Connie); nieces and nephews, Lee Pilkerton (Sara), Shannon Stone (Jason), Samantha Anderson, Dusty Anderson, Taylor Davis, Caitlin Clarke, Travis Davis, Davey Anderson and Daniel Clarke; great-nieces, Cora Pilkerton, Carson Pilkerton, Brielle Stone and Adalee Stone. He will also be remembered in the hearts of many extended family and friends. Craig was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Daniel and Melba Ellis and paternal grandparents Robert and Lucy Anderson. Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. with prayers recited at 4:00 p.m. with Fr. James Meyers at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home in Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Bushwood, MD with Fr. James Meyers Officiating. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Bushwood, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Farrell, Rickey Dean,Tom Stone, John Plum, Georgie Gibson and Lee Pilkerton. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Campbell, Patrick Farrell, Mike Reynolds, Caitlin Clarke (Goddaughter), Sam Farrell (Godson) and his nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following organizations: Hospice of St. Mary’s, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650; Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O Box 7, Avenue, MD 20629; ACTS, P.O. Box 54, Bushwood, MD 20618 or Mother Catherine Academy, 38833 Chaptico Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Hospice of St. Mary’s. As Craig would say, "ROCK ON!"
