James Edward "Froggy, Governor" Scriber

James Edward Scriber “Froggy, Governor”, 68, of Loveville, MD, passed away on August 9, 2025 at his home. Born on April 4, 1957in Leonardtown, MD, he was the loving son of the late Rose Cecilia Mills and Francis Igantius Scriber. James is survived by his siblings Helen Marie Williams (Joe) of District Heights, MD, Wanda Teresa Scriber of Loveville, MD, Mary Agnes Scriber of Jacksonville, FL, John Ridger Scriber of Loveville, MD, Gloria Mae Scriber of Loveville, MD, Gloria Ann Scriber of Loveville, MD, Rose Cecelia Scriber of Loveville, MD. Nieces and nephews Latoya, Alexis, Monique, Anita, and Sarah. He preceded in death by his sister Mary Cecelie Butler and brother-in-law Jitter Butler. He was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, MD and graduate of Chopticon High School. James worked in construction and farming, retiring in November 2022. James enjoyed watching the Washington (Redskins) Commanders, westerns and working in the tobacco fields. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Morganza, MD with Father Drew Royals officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peach Catholic Cemetery, Helen, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be John Scriber, David Herber, Joseph Williams, Marvin Mills, Terrell Buchanan, and Terrie Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers Daien Herbert, Marketh Herbert, Brandon Stubbs Scriber, Jr., Jacquez Stubbs Scriber, John Butler, and Marvin Butler.
