James Edward "Jimmy" Meridith, Sr.
May 11, 1942 ~ October 23, 2016
James "Jimmy" Edward Meridith, 74, died Sunday October 23rd, 2016 at Brookside Hospital in Washington DC following a myriad of health problems.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Anita Meridith, his daughters Rachele and Crystal Meridith, son James Edward Meridith Jr (deceased), granddaughter Sarah Hicks, and many, many close friends.
Jimmy was born and raised in La Plata Maryland, the son of Cora and Elmer Meridith. He attended La Plata high school and graduated in 1960. Shortly thereafter he met Anita at Penny's bar while playing his bass guitar with the band. Music was Jimmy's first love and he played with many bands throughout his entire life. Ever the family man, he loved spending time with his family and taking annual vacations to Walt Disney World and Daytona Beach. He also had a passion for working in his garden and washing and waxing his vehicles.
Jimmy began working for Burch oil as an oil truck driver and retired after 40-plus years in 2005. He took pride in his amazing work ethic and the many friends and relationships he formed while there.
