Services: There will be no local services for Mr. Fields. His services will be taking place in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. James Otis Fields 79, of Mechanicsville, MD and formerly of Corpus Christi, TX died December 13, 2005 in Mechanicsville, MD. Born May 29, 1926 in Tuscaloosa, AL, he was the son of the late Frank Moody and Hester Bell Shirley Fields. He was the devoted father of Karen Fields Mattingly of Mechanicsville, MD, James O. Fields, Jr of Lusby, MD and Bruce F. Fields of Portsmouth, VA. He is also survived by his siblings Cora Lee Barger, Wiltom (Mutt) Fields, Billy Raymond Fields, Sue Owen, Shelby Jean Mitchell and Shirley Ann Mitchell all of Tuscaloosa, AL, four grandchildren: Amanda McCarty Tuggle of Waxahachie, TX, James O. (Trey) Fields, III, of San Antonio, TX, Savannah L. Fields and Marie E. Fields both of Lusby, MD and Michelle L. Mattingly of Salisbury, MD and one great grandchild, Jacob James Tuggle of Waxahachie, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Clark Fields on May 20, 2004, whom he married in New Orleans, LA on July 18, 1947. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Ann Fields and his brothers George and Bob Fields and of course Sebastian. Mr. Fields moved to St. Mary's County in 2004, he was a retired civil service employee. He served his country for 27 years in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1966, he fought in World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the Fleet Reserve. Mr. Fields will be buried on December 17, 2005 in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, Tuscaloosa, AL. Pallbearers will be James F. Mattingly, Barry Fields, Jim Wilson Phillips, Billy Wayne Fields, Charles (Buster) Fields and George Robertson. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's P.O., Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Arrangements provided the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A.
