James R. Shurtleff

James Rafael Shurtleff, “Shurt”, 22, of Leonardtown, MD, passed away on November 10, 2021 in El Paso, Texas. Born on November 19, 1998, he was the loving son of Elizabeth Shurtleff and James Shurtleff of Leonardtown, MD. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Melendez of Georgetown, TX. James graduated from Chopticon High School in 2016, and served in the United States Army for two years. He was stationed in Fort Bliss, TX, and served in Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq and Syria. James enjoyed motorcycles and video games. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home chapel.
