Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD. Entombment will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 10:00 AM in Druid Ridge Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. James “Jimer” Richard Green,84, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on October 1, 2013 in Callaway, MD. Born on February 9, 1929 in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late James Adam Green and Beatrice Bertha Stein Green. James was the loving husband of Mary Joyce Tennyson Green. Jimer is survived by his step-children; David Welch (Yvonne) of Hughesville, MD., Mary Jo Sargent (Robert) of Mechanicsville, MD., 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Roger Green of Jonesboro, TN, and Galen Green of Annapolis, MD. James graduated from Anacostia High School in Washington, DC. He moved from Fort Washington, MD to St. Mary’s County in 1998. Jimer was a supervisor for NOAA, NES DIS, and SARSAT for 30 years retiring in 1995. James belonged to the NARFE, QUIETBIRDMEN and was a flight instructor at Hyde Field. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be follow at 7:00 PM. Entombment will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 10:00AM in Druid Ridge Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Pallbearers will be; Michael Casper, Jr., Mike Mehl, Bob Sargent, Jerry Langley, Larry Gascon, and Freddie Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers Skip Shepherd, Tim Whelan, David Thorn, Mike Whelan, Jim Sataropdis, and Bill Metcalf. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary’s P.O. Box 625 Leonardtown, MD.
