Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 10:00 AM in Holy Face Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Sileo officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, with Prayers being said at 7:00 PM. James Wellington "Welly" Hewitt, 85 died at home of Renal Failure on May 5, 2006. He was born on May 16, 1920 and lived his entire life in Valley Lee, MD. He was the son of Hermon W. & Migonette Goodwin Hewitt. He was the beloved husband of Ernestine "Pretty" whom he married at St. John's Church, Hollywood, MD on April 28, 1945. He was the loving father of Linda Buffenbarger and her husband Tom of Brookeville, MD, Timothy Hewitt and his wife Ruth of Greenwood, FL, Diane Hewitt of Onkaka, Turkey and dear grandad of Amy & Andrew Buffenbarger. He was preceded in death by his brothers & sisters Irving, Alphonsa, Herman, Horace, Kermit, Kennedy, Phil, Alberta Edwards, Kathryn Mathias. Welly was a farmer, business man and tax assessor for the State of MD from which he retired in 1981. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, spending time with his family & friends, playing cards and watching the birds. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 from 4:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, with Prayers at 7:00 PM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Craig Jarboe, Donnie Poe, George Springer, Ray Dilworth, Vern Saunders and Larry Crum. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wallace Berry, Charlie Wise, Orem Hammett, Johnny Adams, George Aud, Bob Smith, Chuck O'Connell, Ron Edwards and Paul Bishop.
