Jill Hermie Sterner (Schumaker) Hayden ,74, of Mechanicsville, MD, died in Waldorf, MD on October 14, 2024. Born in Kutztown, PA on June 26, 1950, she was the eldest of five children and attended Kutztown area schools. Jill worked for most of her life as a pediatric nurse at both Shanti Medical Center and Dr. Sheth Pediatrics, retiring in 2019.
Jill is survived by her husband, Bruce Hayden, her half-sister, Priscilla Farber (James), her brother, Jesse Sterner (Carla), sister Julia Priori (Gallo), sister Jennifer Juntenen (Joe), her children, Patrick Schumaker (Jennifer), Lesley Van Nort (David), Scott Schumaker (Nichole), and her grandchildren, Katherine Van Nort, Morgan Schumaker, Corran Schumaker, Allana Schumaker. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Mae Zimmerman Henry, her stepfather, Russell Henry, her father, William Franklin Sterner, and her sister, Jane Christman.

I was sadden to hear that Jill had passed. My heart goes out to her family for their loss.
Jill was a sweet friend, always up for a good movie or a phone chat. She had a lovely style and friendly way. She also made delicious shortbread cookies that she freely shared. She enjoyed her garden, and nursed bedraggled plants back to life. Another lovely light has been welcomed into Heaven.

I am so sorry to hear of Jill’s passing. She was a wonderful nurse and my children and their children really enjoyed seeing her at every doctors visit. She will be missed greatly and thought of often.
