Services: A mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church in Chaptico, MD with Father Jerry Gamrot officiating. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Silver Spring, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home chapel where prayers will be recited at 7:00PM. Joan Teresa Brahler Turner, 75, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away at her home on July 30, 2011. Born on March 3, 1936 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Francis Clemens Brahler and Teresa Agnes Lyon Brahler. She was the loving wife of the late Paul Chenaworth Turner.. Mrs. Turner is survived by her children; John Francis Brahler of Leonardtown, MD, Catherine Turner Moore of Mechanicsville, MD as well as Foster children; Michael Patrick West of Mechanicsville, MD, Melissa Grace Wilkerson of Woodbridge, VA, and 3 grandchildren. Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her sister Ann Catherine Brahler. Mrs. Turner moved from Hyattsville, MD to St. Mary's County in 1977. She graduated from Catholic University in Washington, DC and was a member of the Catholic University Alumni, St. Anthony’s Alumni and Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church. She worked as a teacher, bookkeeper, and business owner in retail ceramics. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home where prayers will be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD with Fr. Jerry Gamrot officiating. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD. Pallbearers will be; John F. Brahler, Mike West, Zach Moore, Chris Borchet and Derek Moore. Arrangements provided by the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A, Leonardtown, MD.
