Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Morganza, MD with Fr. Keith Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery Visitation: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 from 8:30–9:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. John Donald Tennyson, 93, of Chaptico, MD, and formerly of Avenue, MD, died February 3, 2008 at his residence. Born December 12, 1914 in Leonardtown, MD he was the son of the late George S. and Mary Ruth Mattingly Tennyson. He is survived by his children John D. Tennyson, Jr. and his wife Lois A. of Avenue, MD and Dorothy E. Reynolds and her late husband Richard B. of Chaptico, MD, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Evelyn Hutchinson of Clinton, MD. He was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph Kelly and George S. Tennyson. A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, Seventh District, John attended River Springs School and was employed as a waterman. He was a loving and devoted single father to Donnie and Dottie. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 from 8:30–9:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Morganza, MD with Fr. Keith Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie Tennyson, Ernie Woodall, Eddie Faunce, Robert Hodges, Tucker Brown and Robert T. Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Friess, Pat Wood and John Tennyson III. Contributions may be made to the Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 7, Avenue, MD 20609.
