John Edward Daye, “Pee”, 81, of Mechanicsville, MD, formerly of Clinton, MD, passed away on May 2, 2024, in Leonardtown, MD. Born on April 25, 1943, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Mary Elizabeth Ware and the late Walter Warren Daye. John was the loving husband of Margaret Lee Daye, whom he married on April 8, 1967, in St. John’s Church, Clinton, MD. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tamara Lynn Daye of Mechanicsville, MD, his siblings William H. Daye of Lakeland, FL, Walter W. Daye of Purcellville, VA, Patricia A. Krzyminski of Potomac, MD, and one grandchild, Gavin W. Daye. John was preceded in death by his siblings James W. Daye, John R. Daye, Barbara Buttacavolia, Mary E. Gerlach, and Richard L. Daye.
John graduated from Surrattsville High School in 1961 and served in the United States Army for 3 years, from 1964 to 1967. He moved to St. Mary’s County, MD in 1971 and was a firefighter. John enjoyed fishing and hunting.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
