July 25, 1962 ~ March 31, 2024

John E Lacey, Jr, 61, of Mechanicsville, Maryland passed away on March 31, 2024 with his loving family by his side. John was born July 25, 1962 to the late John E. Lacey, Sr and Helen A. Emmert. John was a plumber by trade and had been retired for the last five Years. To say that he was a diehard Redskins fan was an understatement. He was a huge sports fan and loved the Nationals, Orioles and had recently enjoyed watching golf. His most favorite sports/teams were the ones that his boys played. He was always their biggest fan. He was so proud of the Men that his boys have become. John had a huge heart and he was who he was and was not apologetic for it. You always knew where you stood with him. Being a Dad and a Paw Paw was his most favorite things. He loved his boys and grandchildren more than anything. John also loved playing his guitar. He played it almost every day. His days in a band and getting together with his buddies to “jam” was something he really enjoyed. Taking a ride on his Harley with his wife, Donna, was something that he cherished. John is survived by his beloved wife Donna whom he married on April 16, 1983. This year would have made it 41 years they have been married. He is also survived by his Mother Helen Emmert and Stepfather Roy Emmert. His three sons John E Lacey, III (Wendi), Jeffrey Lacey (Lindsey) and Jason Lacey (Carly). His Grandchildren, his brightest light everyday, Jayde Lacey, Walker Lacey, Easton Lacey and One on the Way, his nieces and great niece and all the extended family that he considered his own. Pallbearers will be John Lacey, III, Jeffrey Lacey, Jason Lacey, Sterling Walker, Steven Remetz, Zack Karis, Derek Thomas, Josh Gray, Riley McMullen and Gary Gray. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I loved watching my friend jam out on the guitar! Lots of good memories! Rest well, Brother. Love always.

  2. John was such a great person, and always great to be around. I remember many many years ago, I for some reason, was without a vehicle. John offered to loan me his truck, since he had his work van. He’d give the shirt off his back if needed. He definitely had a big heart.

Our years in Last Chance, will always be some of the best years of my life. I lived and learned a lot, thanks to John, Donna, Rosey, and Greg. I was only 19 when they hired me. My first real band, and we were a family.

Love you John! I’ll look you up when it’s my turn, and we can jam, hang out, and watch the “Skins” play.

    Kevin, aka Little Drummer Boy

  3. Donna, it has been many years since I’ve seen you guys.
Fond memories of friends made through Warner Plumbing.
Several of those guys are gone now.
I will never forget seeing you and John and the band ROCKIN “Black Velvet”.
It was so fun.. so outside of daily plumbing and real estate life… LOL
Take care of yourself. Thoughts and prayers and Hugs, Susan (Malloy) Sharp
